Alphabet Soup Occupational Therapy for Kids is owned and operated by Janet Kalbfleisch, a registered Occupational Therapist who graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1998.

Janet has been working with children with special needs and their families in the school, home and treatment centre settings.  She is trained and experienced in paediatrics, providing assessment, intervention and consultation in the areas of fine motor, gross motor, sensorimotor, visual perceptual and visual motor skills, in addition to functional skills such as dressing, toileting and school activities.  Janet is an ADP authorizer for Assistive Devices for low tech equipment.  She has completed the Level 1 certification course for the Handwriting Without Tears (HWT) program, trained in the Pre-K through Grade 5 curriculum and Print Tool ™ assessment.  As a team member, Janet has consulted with multiple disciplines (e.g. physiotherapists, speech language pathologists, psychologists) and educators in the public, catholic and private school boards, sharing resources and assisting with problem-solving and goal achievement.

Janet believes in giving back to less fortunate communities.  She has been involved in community based rehabilitation volunteer projects in Ecuador, Dominican Republic and Guyana where she worked with both the adult and paediatric populations.
